Trainers' Curriculum

Trainers' Curriculum

The In It Together Training of Trainers (ToT) curriculum is designed to increase understanding of how health literacy can impact engagement, treatment, and retention in care. The foundation of the curriculum is the belief that health literacy is a universal concern. When individuals and organizations use health literate tools and techniques, they create a safe and caring environment that encourages people living with HIV to seek treatment and stay in care. HIV health care professionals that practice health literate communication, and consider health literacy needs when designing services and materials, create an inclusive and stigma-free care environment.

  • Each of the ToT modules covers a health literacy area in detail and take approximately 60 minutes to complete.
  • The curriculum is designed to be delivered in a classroom setting to a group of people. But each ToT module can also be used as a tool for individuals to increase their understanding of health literacy.
  • The curriculum was not designed for a self-directed, online learning platform.
